Woman stabbed to death in Bhubaneswar, probe launched

A woman in Bhubaneswar was brutally stabbed to death at Gothapatna market under Chandaka police limits on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sasmita Behera who was staying with her family at Krishnapuri Colony.

As per reports, the deceased owned a tiffin stall at Gothapatna market. She was reportedly stabbed by unknown assailant last night.

The police have launched a probe into the case to ascertain the actual cause behind the murder.

Additional DCP, Prakash Chandra Pal said, "The woman along with her husband was operating a tiffinf stall at the Gothapatna market. The husband was out to bring water when the miscreant assaulted the woman.While the exact reason behind the murder is still unknown, it seems to be a case of previous enmity."

In another incident, a three-year-old girl was raped and murdered by a man at Kela slum in Bhubaneswar on Monday evening.

The accused involved in the heinous crime has been identified as Ghania who lives in the same slum. After allegedly sexually assaulting the minor girl, Ghania killed her in an apparent bid to hide the crime and fled the spot.

The police have not been able to nab either of the accused till now.
