The Capital Police recreated the crime scene in the sensational murder of a woman in Jharana slum in Bhubaneswar by taking the accused to the spot on Wednesday.

The murder had taken place on February 29, 2024.

Addressing a press meet, DCP Prateek Singh said that the woman had been staying with her husband at the Jharana slum near Sishu Bhawan Chhak for the last five years.

“The couple belongs to Jaleswar in Balasore. Some local residents said the woman was stabbed by someone at 7.30 pm on February 27. Police probed the case with a scientific team and collected evidence. We have eyewitnesses. Police took the accused to the crime spot and recreated the scene,” he added.

As per reports, the woman’s husband had engaged the accused, identified as Kalu, in the renovation of his mobile repair shop at Bapuji Nagar. Within 20 days of his stay, Kalu fell in one-sided love with the woman and wanted her to elope with him.

He was forcing her to run away with him to another place, but she was unwilling, informed sources.

Infuriated, the accused had stabbed the woman to death in front of her house and fled the scene.
