Woman’s body found at in-laws house in Bhubaneswar, family alleges murder

The body of a woman was found at her in-law’s house in Arvind Nagar under Airfield police station in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Mishra from Kendrapara who was married to Suraj Das of Arvind Nagar in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, Priyanka was married to Suraj for two and half years and had been complaining of torture by her husband for some time.

Sources said the family of Priyanka had complained multiple times before the police about her in-laws torturing Priyanka. The police had mediated and compromised the dispute.

They alleged their daughter was killed by her husband and in-laws. They also accused Suraj’s family of having forced Priyanka to abort her pregnancy earlier.

Following the complaint, the Airfield police detained Suraj for questioning.

“The husband of the deceased has been detained by the police. We will also bring his family to the purview of investigation in the case. As the woman’s family alleged that she was murdered, a murder case has been registered. But the actual cause of the death can only be ascertained from the post-mortem report,” said, Additional DCP, Prakash Chandra Pal.
