Woman killed in Bhubaneswar over 'extramarital affair'

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police cracked the death case of a woman in Bharatpur area revealing that the victim was murdered by her husband over suspicion of an extramarital affair.

The victim has been identified as Mama Pradhan.

The couple had been married for four years and they have a 14-month-old child.

As per reports, the accused, who works as a house painter, suspected that his wife was having an extramarital affair with another man. The accused then reportedly killed her during an altercation between the two.

Speaking on the incident, ACP Zone-3, Pradeep Kumar Rout said, “The accused doubted that his wife had extramarital affair. They had been fighting over this issue for some days.”

“The couple faced off again in their home yesterday. As per the statement of the accused, when his wife tried to attack him with a sharp weapon, he grabbed it from her and strangulated her to death,” the ACP said.

The accused was arrested on Wednesday and forwarded to the court.
