Diya Kumbhara was allegedly murdered by her husband Dilip for dowry in Bairasare village, Bolangir. The police are investigating whether it's a suicide or murder.

In a shocking incident, a young woman was allegedly murdered by her husband for dowry at Bairasare village under Puintala police station in Bolangir district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Diya Kumbhara. Diya from Beherapali area of Bolangir town, had married Dilip Kumbhara two years ago in a love marriage. The couple also has a six-month-old son.

As per reports, Dilip informed his in-laws that Diya had died by suicide on Saturday morning. However, Diya’s family has accused her husband of strangling her to death over dowry demands.

Upon being informed, Puintala police reached the spot and recovered the body. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Dilip has been detained for questioning, and an investigation into the incident  is currently underway. It is yet to be confirmed whether the case is a murder or suicide.

Earlier this month, after battling for her life for two days in the hospital, a young married woman succumbed to her injuries, with her family alleging that she was murdered over dowry demands.

Accusing her in-laws of torture and murder, the woman’s relatives placed her body at the gates of Ghasipura police station in Anandapur subdivision, demanding justice.
