A man sustained grievous injuries after he was allegedly attacked by his wife following a fight over mobile phone. The incident has been reported from Puintala area in Bolangir district on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Ganeswar Suna of Keserakela village, has been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

According to sources, Suna has married Iswari Kumari of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, six years ago.

On Sunday, Iswari asked her husband for his mobile, but he refused saying his mobile phone’s data pack was exhausted. In a fit of rage, Iswari attacked Suna with a sharp weapon when he was asleep. Later, Iswari fled the house along with her four-year-old daughter, sources added.

The villagers rescued Suna, who sustained deep injuries on his head and hand, in critical condition and admitted him to a hospital.

“When my wife asked me to give my mobile, I said no as I have no data pack. Later, I went to sleep. Suddenly she attacked me with a vegetable cutter (Paniki) when I was asleep,” Suna alleged.

“This is not the first time. She fought with me over the mobile phone in the past too. I want to register a complaint against her,” he added.
