Woman dies after saree catches fire while sitting near bonfire in Keonjhar

Juli Barik died from burn injuries after her saree caught fire near a bonfire in Jhatipada, Keonjhar. She was moved to SCB Medical College, Cuttack but succumbed en route.

Woman dies after saree catches fire while sitting near bonfire in Keonjhar

A woman died of severe burn injuries after her saree accidentally caught fire while she was sitting near a bonfire, basking in the heat during the winter chill at Jhatipada village of Keonjhar district. The deceased has been identified as Juli Barik.

According to sources, Juli was soaking in the warmth of a bonfire when an ember set her saree on fire. She was covered in flames before being rescued by people nearby.

The victim was taken to the nearest hospital. After preliminary treatment, she was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated. However, she succumbed to her injuries while en route.
