Widowed woman protests outside police station in Bhadrak over missing minor daughter
A heart-wrenching scene unfolded in front of the Chandbali police station in Bhadrak district on Thursday, where a grieving widowed mother staged a sit-in protest, seeking justice for her missing minor daughter.
As per the allegation, the minor girl has been abducted from the Chandbali area. Despite the incident taking place over eight days ago, there has been no trace of the girl, nor any significant police action.
As per reports, the distraught mother, whose daughter was her only support after losing her husband, has repeatedly approached the police with formal complaints. However, she alleges that no substantial steps have been taken by the authorities to recover her daughter or bring the accused to justice.
The situation has drawn the attention of the entire village, with many accompanying the mother in her desperate pursuit of justice. Frustrated by the lack of response, the woman has now warned that she may take her own life in front of the police station if no action is taken.
"My husband died, and my only hope is my daughter. My daughter has been missing for the last eight days. Though I have registered a missing complaint at the police station, the police are not doing anything. I am clueless about what to do. I will set myself on fire if I don't get my child. Please bring my daughter," said the widowed mother.
"The child has been missing for the last eight days, and we have lodged a complaint in this regard. However, the police have not been taking any steps for the last eight days. Had police taken any steps, the villagers would not have staged a sit-in on the road like this. The mother is saying that she will die by setting herself on fire if she doesn't get her daughter. She may do anything at any moment," said a local resident.

"Somebody has abducted the child at around 1-2 pm. Though the mother has lodged a complaint at the police station, no action has been taken for the last eight days. The IIC is saying that they have no reports about the matter. Her mother is helpless now. She is not even taking food. She is a widow. Common people are not getting justice. If she had political links, she would have gotten justice within 24 hours," said another local resident.
Despite the serious allegations and emotional plea, no official response was issued by the Chandbali police.
