Wayanad Landslides: Missing Odisha doctor dead, two others from state undergoing treatment at hospital
Bishnu Prasad Chinara, the missing doctor from Odisha, died in the massive landslides in Wayanad that shook the country, informed the state revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday.
According to Pujari, four persons from Odisha including Dr Bishnu Prasad Chinara and Dr Swadhin Panda were affected by the landslides in Kerala.
Dr Chinara hailed from the Housing Board colony in the Choudwar area of Cuttack district. He along with his wife Priyadarsini Pal had gone on a trip to the region in Kerala which was hit by a massive landslide.
“The body of Dr Bishnu Prasad Chinara has been recovered and we have got information. His wife is undergoing treatment at the hospital and her condition is stable,” informed Pujari adding that the process of re-identification of Dr Chinara’s body will be done and steps will be taken to bring his body back to Odisha."
Two officers from Odisha have been sent to Kerala to complete the necessary processes.
Another person from Odisha, Swikruti Mohapatra is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The two other persons from Odisha, who are undergoing treatment at hospitals, are expected to recover soon.
“There is no information about Dr Swadhin Panda so far. The Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) is keeping close contact with his Kerela counterpart. Timely updates are being provided to respective family members,” said the Minister.
