A technical team of Odisha Police Crime Branch reached Chandrapur in Rayagada on Friday to probe the death of a ‘Maa Home’ warden, Laxmi Majhi.

The five-member technical team will investigate the case and collect forensic evidence from the spot.

A local tribal girl, Laxmi Majhi’s half-charred body was found from the Maa House located in the premises of Chandrapur Medical on December 21.

A handicapped, Majhi was working at the Maa House as a warden for the last five years after getting recruited by a social organisation named Alisha.

She was allegedly set ablaze by unknown miscreants. An FIR was filed at the police station by her family members.

Meanwhile, the BJP demanded justice for Majhi. The party's Mahila Morcha also observed a six-hour bandh in Rayagada following the incident. The party has also demanded CBI inquiry into the incident.
