File photo of former IAS officer VK Pandian
VK Pandian took to social media on Friday to debunk rumours that he has a presence on platform 'X'. Using Instagram to communicate directly with the public, Pandian affirmed that any accounts claiming to be belonging to him on the X platform are fake.
The former IAS officer further claimed that his identity and photos are being exploited for political manoeuvrings.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Pandian wrote,” I don’t have any X account. My name and pictures are being misused in FAKE accounts and it is politically motivated.”
In response, an RTI (Right to Information) activist Pradip Pradhan expressed his scepticism, pointing out that the accounts in question have been active for a significant period of time without earlier denouncement by anyone.
The RTI activist also questioned the lack of legal recourse if these platforms were indeed housing fraudulent profiles.
When contacted, the RTI activist stated, “He (Pandian) is quite aware that the ‘X’ account under reference is functional. Now, after the account was debated and questioned, he is saying this to save his face.”
“If at all anyone had opened a fake account using his name and uploading various posts, and if he has been defamed thereby, VK Pandian should have lodged an FIR at the cyber police station against the wrongdoer (as claimed) for opening fake ID,” the RTI activist said.
Worth mentioning, Pandian accepted ‘Sanyas’ from active politics following BJD’s debacle in the 2024 General Elections.
