Vigilance detects 52 plots, Rs 2 crore deposits after raid on Bhubaneswar Joint Commissioner of Excise dept's properties

Vigilance sleuths raided 10 locations linked to Rama Chandra Mishra, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Bhubaneswar, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets. The raids spanned Bhubaneswar, Sonepur, and Balangir. A team comprising DSPs and inspectors conducted the searches based on warrants from Special Judge, Vigilance.

Vigilance sleuths on Monday conducted simultaneous raids at 10 places associated with Rama Chandra Mishra, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Bhubaneswar, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to sources, several teams of the anti-corruption agency raided the properties of Mishra and his relatives located in at least 10 places including Bhubaneswar, Sonepur, Bargarh, and Balangir.

The Vigilance team comprising 10 DSPs, six Inspectors, 15 inspectors and other supporting staff conducted searches on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, sources informed.

As per reports, the Vigilance teams have found some important documents during the search. The raid team has also traced more than 52 plots including five multi-storey buildings, a flat in Satya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, a farmhouse in Sonepur and bank deposits worth more than Rs 2 crore in the name of Rama Chandra Mishra.

Interestingly, he lives in a rented house and drives a two-wheeler. He also owns a flat at the Chandrama Apartment in Bhubaneswar worth lakhs, a rice mill in Balangir, and a farmhouse in Bargarh.

“The Vigilance search is being conducted simultaneously at 10 places in various parts of the State. The team includes 10 DSPs, 15 inspectors, and many other technical officers,” informed Vigilance SP Shravan Vivek. He refused to divulge further details citing confidential reasons.
