The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested two former students of Utkal University for their alleged involvement in the ruckus during a State-level seminar at PG Council Hall at the varsity campus on Sunday.

According to reports, some students along with former students allegedly opposed Surajit Majumdar, a professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who was also the chief guest, during the seminar organised by Citizen Forum on ‘Indian Constitution and Education’.

When Majumdar delivered his speech, some students stood up and started opposing him. Moreover, the students hurled abuses and attacked a professor of the varsity and the convener of Citizen Forum.

Soon, the situation went out of control and the angry students had a verbal duel with convener of Citizen Forum Pradeepta Nayak and lecturer Surendra Jena.

While two persons suffered injuries in the attack, two separate complaints from both sides have been registered at Saheed Nagar police station.
