'Unrequited love for sister-in-law': Man ‘thrashes cousin brother to death’ for objecting romantic advancements

In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly thrashed to death for objecting romantic advancements by the accused towards the former's wife at Majhihara Mahala sahi under Balipatna police limits on the suburbs of Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Akshay Majhi and the prime accused Dilu is a distance relative of him.

As per reports, Akshay was found in a pool of blood at Nuasahi village on Sunday night. He had injuries on his head and other parts of the body. The villagers took him to a nearby private hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning while undergoing treatment.

It was alleged that Dilu was making romantic advancements towards Akshay’s wife Shravani Majhi. He had even allegedly sent an obscene message to Shravani 10 days back. When Shravani showed the message to her husband, he had a heated argument over it with Dilu.

Angered by the confrontation, Dilu had allegedly beaten Akshay at Balakati market 8-9 days back. The matter went to the police and it was compromised by the cops after they both agreed to not confront each other again.

However, just after a week of the compromise, Akshay was beaten to death allegedly by Dilu and his associates.

“He (Dilu) had sent me an obscene message. When my husband asked him why he sent such a message, Dilu threatened to beat him. They both beat each other 10 days back. But the issue was compromised at Balakati police Station,” said Shravani.

“However, Dilu and his father Kalia both killed my husband last night by beating him with wooden planks and stabbing with knife,” she alleged.

The Police have detained two accused in this case and questioning them. Dilu is at large and yet to be traced.
