Two women die after falling from train in Odisha

Two women, Parvati and Jhunu Gouda, lost their lives at Surla Road station in Odisha's Ganjam while boarding a train to Bhubaneswar for a rally.

At least two women lost their lives after falling from a moving train at Surla Road railway station in Odisha's Ganjam district on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Parvati Gouda and Jhunu Gouda who were residents of Jagannathpur village under Chikiti block in the district. They were working as ‘pachikas’ (cooks) in Jagannathpur school.

As per reports, the two women were on their way to attend the ongoing rally of Pachika Sangha in Bhubaneswar. They tried to board the Palasa-Cuttack DMU train at Surla Road railway station. However, one of them slipped from the moving train while trying to board the vehicle during its short stay at the station. The other woman also slipped from the moving train while trying to rescue her. Both of them eventually died after being crossed by the moving train.

RPF personnel reached the spot immediately and recovered the bodies. An investigation into the incident has been launched. A pal of gloom has descended in the area following the tragic incident.

A few months back, a kid from Berhampur accidentally slipped from the Durg-Puri train and got stranded in a forest area throughout the night at Rairakhol.

The incident took place while the kid was travelling along with his father and others from Raipur to Bhubaneswar. Everybody was sleeping when the train crossed Rairakhol station. Later, the boy was rescued by the RPF and admitted to the nearest hospital.
