Two suspected human skeletons found in newly-built overhead water tank in Odisha’s Jajpur

In a bone-chilling incident, two skeletons, suspected to be of humans, were found inside a newly-built overhead water tank of a drinking water project on the outskirts of Nischinta village under Sadar Block of Jajpur on Monday. 

While police are clueless about the skeletons, it is suspected that the skeletons could be of two humans. 

Meanwhile, the skeletons were recovered and sent to the district headquarters hospital in Jajpur town for post-mortem. 

As per reports, the overhead tank is at a desolate place away from Nischinta village. The project has not been made functional yet. Two children, who accidentally climbed up the tank on Monday while playing, spotted the skeletons. As the news spread, locals gathered at the place.

On learning about the incident, the Jajpur SP and the SDPO along with a police team visited the spot. The two skeletons were recovered by the fire brigade and sent to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem. According to locals, as the place is away from the village, it is frequented by anti-social people, and hence, any foul play cannot be ruled out. 

Police have started an investigation into the matter. Police also suspect that as the skulls recovered are smaller in size, the skeletons could be of monkeys. Police are also looking at that angle, sources said.
