Two siblings were severely injured as miscreants broke into their house and opened fire while they were asleep in Bhangamunda village under Kishorenagar police station in Angul district late on Thursday night.
The victims have been identified as 11-year-old boy Prakash Mirdha and his 15-year-old sister Janjyaseni Mirdha.
Initially, they were rushed to Kishorenagar community health centre in a critical condition. Later they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.
However, details surrounding the motive for the shooting remain undisclosed, leaving both the local community and law enforcement baffled as to why these children were targeted and by whom they were shot.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet community with residents demanding swift justice for the young victims. Police are actively pursuing leads and urging anyone with information to come forward.
As per reports, when Prakash Mirdha’s two children were asleep on bed, some miscreants broke into their house and opened fire at them. Janjyaseni has sustained serious injuries on her stomach and her condition is stated to be critical.
Kishorenagar police is thoroughly investigating the case and exploring all possible angles.
However, no reactions could be obtained from police and family members about the incident.
