At a time when Odisha has earned a bad name over reports of fake medicines being sold in several parts of the State including the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has arrested two persons for allegedly selling medicines door-to-door.

The incident has been reported from Salia Sahi area in the State capital.

According to sources, in a rare sight, two persons were found selling medicines by visiting different houses in Salia Sahi area.

These medicines were reportedly being sold without any doctor’s prescription.

Though it is still unclear whether the medicines sold by the salesmen are original or fake, the police are questioning the duo to extract more information.

It is worthwhile to mention here that on April 25, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police had arrested four persons from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for supplying fake medicines to dealers in Odisha.

The arrested persons- Subham Jaiswal, Ritesh Kumar, Chandrasekhar Singh, and Gaurav Sharma were brought to Odisha on remand after being produced at a Varanasi court.

Similarly, spurious blood pressure medicines 'Telma 40' and Telma AM were seized in Cuttack earlier. Two accused allegedly involved in supplying spurious hypertension medicines to distributors in Cuttack were arrested from Bihar.
