Two cops critical in brutal assault by accused at Odisha’s Chandipur Police Station

An accused brutally attacked two constables following a clash inside Chandipur Police Station in Balasore district on Saturday. The two cops were critically injured after they were attacked with a spade.

The injured constables were admitted to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore. Later one of the constables identified as Siddheswar Sahu was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition worsened.

As per reports, the accused identified as Sanatan Soren was arrested in connection with an attempt-to-murder case (under section 307 of IPC). At the police station, Sanatan tried to escape. But the two constables obstructed him, leading to a clash. The accused, in a fit of rage, picked up a spade and attacked the two. 

Following the attack, police overpowered the accused. Balasore SP Sagarika Nath rushed to the spot and ordered an investigation into the incident.

However, no responses were received from police in connection with the matter.
