Two 'conmen' detained for duping job aspirants using Odisha Deputy CM KV Singh Deo's name

In a case of fraud, police detained two youths in Patnagarh of Bolangir district for duping job aspirants of lakhs of rupees in the false promise of government jobs, claiming to be close aides of Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan (KV) Singh Deo. 

The accused identified as Buddhadev Sahu from Bileisathi village and Sushil Rao from Salepali village were caught by police on charges of defrauding locals on claims of getting them lucrative positions in government jobs.

The conmen are accused to have collected significant amount of money from most unemployed youths promising them employment. Following several complaints, preliminary inquiries revealed that the scamsters mostly targeted vulnerable young men desperate for employment. 

Further queries unmasked that the scamsters have been working in this region for a considerable period of time, by taking advantage of local youths' greed for job facilities.

owever, no comments from Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo could be obtained regarding the incident.

Police officials are cautioning the citizens not to fall prey to such scams, citing a need to crosscheck the job facilities through authentic sources.

Earlier in October, the Odisha Crime Branch had busted a Rs 6.28 crore cyber fraud by 'Kotak Investment Club.'

The agency arrested 24 suspects accused of evicting the investors after achieving high returns through a WhatsApp group. The siphoned money was moved into over 100 bank accounts and withdrawn within days.
