Two Class 7 students drown to death in pond in Odisha
Two minor boys drowned in a pond at Khursia Bandhakuda village under Marshaghai police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district. The heart-wrenching incident has left the local community in a state of grief and disbelief.
The boys, identified as Durga Prasad Mohapatra and Dipanshu Mohapatra, both aged 12 and students of Class 7, went missing after leaving their tuition classes on the afternoon they were last seen. As they didn’t return home, their family members and villagers conducted a search throughout the evening.
Discovery of the Bodies:
The search efforts tragically concluded when villagers discovered one boy's body in a pond adjacent to the Brahmani Temple. Shortly thereafter, responders found the second boy's body in the same water body.
Local police soon arrived at the scene, confirming the commencement of a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths due to drowning.
Police Investigation Underway
Local police authorities (Marshaghai PS) initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the two minor boys.
“Our hearts go out to the families of these promising young boys. Our investigation aims to uncover the exact details of this unfortunate accident,” stated a police officer on the spot.
