‘Subhadra Rally’ to be taken out at 6,794 places across Odisha on Mar 5

On March 5, thousands of women and girl students across Odisha will participate in the 'Subhadra Rally' at 6,794 locations, promoting women’s empowerment and raising awareness about the 'Subhadra Yojana'. The rally will conclude on March 8, International Women’s Day.

March 5 will see thousands of women and girl students from across Odisha participating in the ambitious ‘Subhadra Rally’, a march aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and enhancing social welfare, sources said on Tuesday.

The rally, to be taken out at 6,794 different locations throughout the State, seeks to spread awareness about the ‘Subhadra Yojana’, engaging the public, particularly women, through educational activities and informative outreach efforts.

Community Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) have been briefed with specific guidelines to prepare adequately for the event.

These rallies will conclude on March 8, in alignment with the International Women’s Day, further underscoring the global focus on gender equality and women’s rights.

“Street meetings (Patha Pranta Sabhas) will be held, Subhadra Rallies will be taken out, and lamps (Diyas) will be ignited in villages. It will help the Government’s plan of Subhadra Yojana to gain mass appeal,” Deputy CM Pravati Parida expressed.

Odisha Govt's plan for women empowerment

Worth mentioning, on February 17, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had proposed Rs 10,145 Crore for Subhadra and Rs 153 Crore under Subhadra Surakshya in the State Budget in FY 2025-26 for ensuring safety and security of women.

The Odisha government has plans to roll out the Subhadra Plus umbrella scheme, the CM had previously said in his speech in the House of the Legislative Assembly.

“In line with our vision of women-led empowerment, our government is going to roll out the Subhadra Plus umbrella scheme to take up new initiatives including ‘Kishori Subhadra’, ‘Subhadra Sanchay, ‘Subhadra Surakhya’, ‘Subhadra Sakhi’, ‘Subhadra Yatri’, ‘Subhadra Sangh (Subhadra Club)’, ‘Kuha Subhadra (Call Centre)’, ‘Subhadra Sahyogi’, ‘Subhadra Scholars’, and ‘Sujogya Subhadra’, further enhancing the impact of Subhadra yojana on the lives of my sisters in Odisha,” the CM had stated.

“As an important step in the direction, our Government has successfully implemented the historic and path-breaking scheme for women's empowerment: SUBHADRA. This is the largest scheme in the history of Odisha and is a testimony to our commitment to rewriting Odisha's growth story with women occupying centrestage,” the CM had asserted.
