Truck driver follows Google Maps to go to Raipur, ends up stranded in treacherous terrain in Odisha
A massive traffic nightmare unfolded in Ganjam as a truck laden with rice found itself hopelessly trapped in the treacherous terrain of the Gazalbadi ghat area, creating a three-day-long traffic jam that left travellers frustrated and local residents reeling.
The truck, en route to Raipur from Visakhapatnam, reportedly became a victim to the deceptive allure of Google Maps, which directed it down a narrow, dilapidated road.
As the vehicle succumbed to the unforgiving conditions, a sea of stranded motorists faced mounting delays and escalating tensions, turning a routine journey into a harrowing saga of chaos and inconvenience.
Although there were alternative routes, the GPS led the driver to this lesser-travelled road, and when the truck broke down, it got stuck late in the night.
“We followed the GPS directions, which led us to this location, but unfortunately, our vehicle broke down,” said the truck helper.
"We are now stuck here due to poor network coverage, making it difficult to call for assistance," he added.
The entire incident has caused concern among the local residents and travellers as the truck is still stuck (at the time of posting this story), blocking the flow of traffic in the area.
Though alerted about the situation, the authorities failed to do much to displace the truck because the terrain was quite difficult to pass over on the road.
This has caused considerable inconvenience as travellers have been faced with hours of delay and very circuitous routes to reach their destination.
