Miscreants allegedly looted an excise Inspector’s house at Jiridamali under Dhenkanal’s Kamakhyanagar block on Thursday. The thieves reportedly decamped with cash and gold jewellery from the house.

As per reports, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, posted as the Inspector of Excise at Kamakhyanagar, was out of the town for some personal work when the thieves targeted his house.

Asked about the alleged theft, Sharma said, “We had gone to Kolkata to bring back our daughter on July 3. During our return, my neighbour called and informed me that the lock on my door is broken. I called the IIC of Kamakhyanagar following which they came and conducted spot enquiry.”

“The miscreants have stolen Rs 2-3 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing more than 80 grams from my house,” he added.

A police complaint has been lodged and an enquiry has been launched to nab the thieves.
