Police arrested three persons in connection with the theft of idols from Mukteswar temple in Sarbodayanagar of Puri.
Police also seized idols of Shiva and Parvati along with some ornaments from the two.

Addressing a presser, Puri SP Pinak Mishra said that the accused were identified as Gunamani Pradhan of Baliput and Jitendra Kahal and Ranjan Pradhan of Chhaitana.

He added that further investigation into the matter is underway and police are investigating if the three are involved in other cases.

A complaint was filed at Talabania police station on February 12 about the theft of two idols and ornaments from Mukteswar temple.

Police were investigating a bike-lifting racket. While interrogating some accused about the racket, police then only came to know about their link with the temple burglary.

Police later raided the house of Gunamani and arrested him and his son in Baliput Patnasahi.
