The family of the house where bombs were hurled
Tension ran high at Jagiapada village under Athagarh police limits in Cuttack district after several bombs were hurled at a house on Friday afternoon over alleged past enmity.
One Krushnapriya Rout, wife of Prabhat Rout, filed a police complaint, accusing Ajay Khatua, a fellow villager, of hurling at least three bombs at their house and other locations over an old rivalry.
She claimed that the accused had engaged in a verbal altercation earlier in the day over an old dispute. Later, he, along with a group, reportedly launched the bomb attack on their house.
“At about 1:30 PM, Khatua came towards our house while brandishing a sword and threatened to kill my husband. He then hurled a bomb at our house verandah, and two others at a nearby school and the village entrance to further threaten us,” alleged Rout.
On being informed about the incident, police along with the Athagarh DSP, reached the site and launched an investigation.
“A case of atrocity and another civil case was registered against the accused before this incident. A team has been dispatched to the crime site and based on their report we shall definitely take action,” stated Rabindra Kumar Mallick, Athagarh SDPO.
Highlighting the risk to their family, Rout also approached the Athagarh police station for protection.
