Tension flared at the Badmal outpost under the Saintala police station limits in Bolangir district on Tuesday after a group of miscreants allegedly stormed the facility and attacked on-duty officials.

According to reports, the incident began with an argument between some locals and police personnel over an undisclosed issue. The situation escalated when one miscreant, accompanied by a group, allegedly forced entry into the outpost and attacked the in-charge officer, Harekrushna Majhi. Another policeman who attempted to intervene was also reportedly assaulted during the chaos.

Following the scuffle, the accused managed to flee from the spot. The reason behind the sudden altercation inside and outside the outpost remains unclear. Sources said that despite the incident, no immediate action has been taken by the police against the attackers.

Mobile phone footage of the chaos has surfaced, capturing visuals of the commotion inside the outpost. However, neither the assaulted officer nor the Badmal outpost authorities nor the Saintala police station has officially commented on the matter so far.

The incident has raised concerns over the safety of police personnel within their own premises, as locals demand strict action against the culprits.
