Tension erupts at Utkal University after disagreement between students
Tension erupted at Utkal University in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday as a student protest took place against the Jai Bhim Student Organisation.
As per reports, the protest, primarily led by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Student Congress, and other students affiliated with Vani Vihar, escalated significantly, prompting the deployment of police forces.
Following an event hosted by the Jai Bhim Organisation, a disagreement reportedly broke out between some of their members and other students, leading to heightened tension on the university campus. Efforts to mediate and de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful. As many as four platoons of police and two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) have been deployed to maintain law and order.
During the incident, one student was reportedly injured and required hospitalisation. He has been admitted to the Capital Hospital. As many as eight others reportedly sustained minor injuries. In response, students continue to protest, calling for the arrest of the Jai Bhim activists involved in the altercation.

Earlier in October, several members of Odisha Chhatra Congress had staged a protest in Bhubaneswar alleging irregularities in the admission process at Utkal University.
Some protestors had a tussle with the police while they were staging demonstrations in front of the Raj Bhavan in the Capital City.
