Temperatures rise in Odisha; yellow alert issued for fog

IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar issued a Yellow Warning for dense fog in several Odisha districts over the next three days. Minimum temperatures have risen, with dry weather prevailing across the State.

With no significant synoptic system lying over the region, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha during the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted on Wednesday.

The IMD in Bhubaneswar issued a Yellow Warning in these districts for the next 72 hours.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Minimum temperatures observed appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and above normal elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Weather forecast and warning in Odisha districts for the next three days:

For Wednesday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.02.2025)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early morning hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Angul and at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, and Angul.

Yellow Warning (Be aware)- Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Ganjam, Keonjhargarh, Nayagarh, and Angul.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 07.02.2025)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early morning hours at a few places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the district of Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh, and Kalahandi.

Yellow Warning (Be aware)- Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

For Friday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.02.2025)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early morning hours at a few places over the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Ganjam and at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Koraput, and Puri.

Yellow Warning (Be aware)- Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, and Ganjam.

Temperature forecast: No major change is likely in the minimum (night) temperature during the next four to five days over the districts of Odisha.
