An elderly man and a young woman, who previously got separated from their respective families, reunited with their loved ones after a gap of around 14 years in Odisha’s Jajpur and Bolangir districts on Monday.
The man was identified as Surath Rana from Jajpur town and the woman as Kanti Bagh from Patnagarh locality.

According to sources, Surath had mental abnormalities when he left his family. He had also left his house earlier and went to Puri and his family members had brought him back. However, in 2010, he went away and did not return thereafter.
“My brother-in-law (husband’s younger brother) had gone missing and we did not know his whereabouts. He was residing in Kerala since then,” a relative of Surath expressed.
Not only Surath, but the tale of Kanti Bagh is no different. She had left her house after developing some mental disorders. She went missing after boarding a train and did not return home. The woman had been residing in an orphanage in Khordha district since then. However, after matching the biometric details available on her Aadhaar card, the orphanage authorities contacted Kanti’s near and dear ones.
“We are very happy after seeing her (Kanti). We had thought that she might have died. It is like a rebirth of her,” the woman’s relatives Tila Bagh and Rakesh Bagh stated.
One of her sons was around 1-year-old and another son 3-year-old when Kanti had left her home, they added.
