Chaos at Seva Kendras as applicants rush for last-minute Aadhaar correction
The Odisha government’s flagship scheme ‘Subhadra Yojana’ has forced hundreds of women to rush to Aadhaar Seva Kendras or common service centers to update/correct their Aadhaar cards. The last-minute rush has led to chaos in the service centers.
Due to misinformation and lack of knowledge, many newly married women are now rushing to change surnames and addresses, and correct spelling mistakes in their names. importantly, most of them have not linked their mobile number to their Aadhaar.
This has led to a huge rush to update the Aadhaar card, which is a mandatory document to be eligible for the Subhadra money. Only a few people visited the Seva Kendras before. However, the guarantee scheme has led to a huge crush with women in hundreds queuing up for Aadhaar correction.
“I’m standing in queue since morning. I have to change my address and link my mobile number. But, there is a huge rush. People who came late are breaking the line. I had come yesterday also, but I had to return. Today also I’m standing in the queue, but there is no hope,” a woman alleged.
Similarly, another woman stated, “There is a mistake in name and DOB on my Aadhaar card. So, I’ve been standing in the queue since morning 5 am.”
Meanwhile, the submission of forms for Subhadra Yojana has started today. Forms for the BJP government’s dream scheme are available at Anganwadi centers, block offices, Mo Seva Kendras, and Jan Seva Kendras free of cost.
The first installment in most probability will be released on September 17, PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will receive Rs 5000 each in two installments, a total of Rs 10,000 in a year and Rs 50,000 in five years.
The money will be credited directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
Meanwhile, a stampede-like situation was witnessed in a post office as hundreds of people queued for Aadhaar correction.
