Huge rush of Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries witnessed outside bank in Gajapati

There seems to be no end to the mad rush in front of banks to avail benefits of Subhadra Yojana in Odisha. People, mostly woman, standing in serpentine queues in front of banks, have become a common sight since the inception of the scheme in the State. In such a latest instance on Tuesday, hundreds of women were found making beeline in front of the State Bank of India branch at Mohana in Gajapati

As per reports, the beneficiaries of Subhadra Yojana have made the mad rush to make KYC updates of the bank accounts to get the first phase of their money under Subhadra Yojana. They have been standing in the long queue since 7 am.

According to the beneficiaries, they have been deprived of receiving the money under Subhadra Yojana as their bank accounts have not been linked with Aadhaar and mobile number. 

Though the bank has provided tokens considering huge rush of the customers in Mohana, many beneficiaries are forced to return home due to the mad rush.

“An Anganwadi worker asked me for KYC update of my bank account. I have been waiting in the long queue outside the bank since 7 am. Considering the huge rush, I am not sure whether my work will be completed today or not,” said Sabita Singh, a beneficiary of Subhadra Yojana.

“I have come to the bank for KYC update with much difficulty. There has been so much rush that I am yet to get the token. I don’t think my account could be updated today,” rued Kamalini Nayak, another beneficiary.

Notably, more than 20 lakh women in Odisha received financial assistance of Rs 5000 as the Odisha government released the first instalment of the third phase of the Subhadra Yojana on Sunday.

As per sources, the government released more than Rs 1000 crore in the third phase of the first installment benefitting over 20 lakh beneficiaries in the state.

With the release of the third phase, as many as 80 lakh women in the State have been covered under the new BJP government’s ambitious scheme which aims at empowering the women of the State.
