President Droupadi Murmu
The Indian Navy is set to commemorate Navy Day in Puri on December 4, with the President of India Droupadi Murmu being expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest. All necessary arrangements by the local authorities and the law enforcement are in full swing to ensure safety and security ahead of the President’s visit to Odisha.
The President on a 5-day visit to Odisha will reach the state on December 3 and will take part in different programmes during her stay. She is also expected to go to Mayurbhanj, her home district.
As per reports, the President will be staying at the Raj Bhavan in Puri, where special decorations are being made in anticipation of her visit. During her stay, she is scheduled to observe a demonstration of the Indian Navy's capabilities from the blue flag beach.
In addition to the Navy Day celebrations, President Murmu will visit the revered Jagannath Temple to offer prayers. She will also participate as the chief guest at the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.
To ensure security throughout her visit, an elaborate security detail comprising 80 platoons and 300 officers will be deployed.
As part of the Navy Day events, the coastline of Puri will feature a grand exhibition on the beach, involving a fleet of 24 warships and 40 fighter jets in a tactical display of military.
Spectators can also look forward to an illuminating laser show as the event is set to conclude with a spectacular laser show. This apart, the President is scheduled to attend the 40th convocation of OUAT and the inauguration of a new judicial court complex on December 5.
On December 6, the president will go to her home district Mayurbhanj and is scheduled to stay at her residence in Rairangpur. She is also likely to visit Rairangpur Women’s College and interact with students and faculty and later offer prayers at Puneswar Mahadev Temple.
The following day, she will meet locals and go to Bangiriposh to lay the foundation stone of three railway projects – Badampahar-Kendujhargarh, Bangriposi-Gorumahisani, and Buramara-Chakulia.
President Murmu will also lay the foundation stones for a Tribal Research Centre and a sub-divisional hospital via video conferencing before returning to Delhi via a special flight from Kolkata’s defence airbase.
Worth mentioning, President Murmu’s last scheduled visit to Odisha in October was cancelled at the last moment due to Cyclone Dana that hit the Odisha coast.
