National Constitution Day: A Sneak Peek…
Notably, National Constitution Day is observed on November 26 every year to honor the adoption of India’s Constitution. It honors the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which laid the foundation for democratic governance and individual rights in post-independence India.
This date signifies the culmination of nearly three years of rigorous debate and drafting by the Constituent Assembly in Delhi. On this day in 1949, India formally accepted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.
To promote awareness of the Constitution’s significance in contemporary India, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment declared November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015.
Schools, colleges, and institutions nationwide mark this day with activities such as Preamble readings and discussions to foster awareness about constitutional principles.
