Tension ran high in Anandapur of Odisha's Keonjhar district after stones were allegedly pelted during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony on Saturday. Shockingly, stones were pelted on the procession by some miscreants near Anandapur police station.

Utter chaos prevailed after police directed the people to conduct the procession ceremony without any lightning.

It is alleged that there was palpable tension in the area over the delay in the conduct of the immersion of the Ganesh idol.

Many have blamed the lack of measures by the district measures to strengthen security which led to the incident. Following the tension, the conduct of the immersion ceremony has been stopped.

Two separate complaints have been filed in connection with yesterday's incident.
