Scheme to redevelop railway stations
Six railway stations in Odisha are set to undergo significant transformation as part of the Indian Railways' Amrit Station scheme, which aims to enhance national facilities to meet international standards.
The stations in question are located in Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sambalpur districts, with Angul, Talcher, Talcher Road, Meramandali, Dhenkanal, and Rairakhol earmarked for upgrades.
The redevelopment will see an investment of Rs 25.41 crore for Angul station, with amounts of Rs 18.85 crore, Rs 12.97 crore, Rs 21.99 crore, Rs 26.11 crore, and Rs 26.93 crore allocated to Talcher Road, Talcher, Meramandali, Dhenkanal, and Rairakhol respectively, according to railway authorities.
These upgrades are intended to bring state-of-the-art facilities, improved accessibility, and sustainable solutions. The new station buildings will feature modern amenities, enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
A railway official remarked, “These improvements will not only facilitate smoother passenger movement but also spur job creation across central Odisha.”
The initiative is expected to significantly boost the region's economy by creating employment opportunities and improving infrastructure.
