Senior OAS officer Deba Prasad Dash reinstated after 6 years of suspension

Senior Odisha Administrative Service officer Deba Prasad Dash, suspended since 2018, has been reinstated by the State government. He is now appointed as Joint Secretary in the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department. Dash expressed his gratitude to the BJP government for revoking his suspension after six years and two months.

Senior Odisha Administrative Service officer Deba Prasad Dash, who was placed under suspension since 2018, has been reinstated in service by the State government on Thursday.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Dash has been appointed as the Joint Secretary to the Government, Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department with a condition that he must adhere to the Odisha Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1959.

Dash was serving as a joint secretary at the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) when he was suspended by the then BJD government on 28th May 2018.

“I am delighted that I got justice after a long wait of six years and two months. Even after repeated directives from Supreme Courts, Chief Secretaries, the suspension was not revoked against me. The present BJP government has provided justice to me and I express my gratitude to everyone,” Dash said.

“My suspension was deliberate even after serving the duties with dedication and honesty. The suspension has not only affected me but also hurt my elderly father and family members,” Dash added.

With BJP government’s focus on ‘Odia Asmita’, my appointment in the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department will further encourage me to perform my duties diligently, the senior OAS officer stated.
