Senior IPS officer Susanta Nath to return from Central deputation to Odisha

Susanta Kumar Nath, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1993 batch, is set to return to Odisha after serving on Central deputation, a notification issued on Monday in this regard by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Police-1 Division mentioned.

IPS officer Nath had been positioned at the central level since September 2020. He had requested a return to his home cadre in Odisha, a move that has now been sanctioned by the Central government. This brings an end to his period of the central deputation as he resumes responsibilities within his home region.

Central deputation of the IPS officer

Susanta Nath, was repatriated with immediate effect, at his own request under provisions of Para-14.1 of the IPS Tenure Policy. This is a premature repatriation of the IPS officer previously working as Inspector General, Border Security Force to his parent cadre.

Date of relieving of the officer may be intimated to the Ministry, the communiqué said.

Notably, approval of the competent authority was issued with reference to Border Security Force (BSF)’s letter (No-11/12714/2022-Pers/BSF/18201 dated 20.02.2025.

Worth mentioning, earlier in a major reshuffle in the IPS cadre, the Odisha government carried out significant transfers involving senior officials across key posts in the police administration, on February 28.
