Nilagiri MLA Sukant Nayak faced an awkward situation while laying the foundation stone for a road project in Garidihi panchayat under his constituency in Balasore district on Thursday. The sarpanch of the panchayat reportedly vandalised the information plaque of the project alleging that his name on the plaque was missing.

As per reports, the legislator Sukant Nayak visited Garidihi panchayat to lay the foundation stone for Kalakada-Ambhajhar road project. Sarpanch Shibaji Singh was allegedly angry to see that his name was not etched on the plaque. He strongly opposed it and then sat atop the plaque as the MLA arrived at the place. He was seen shouting at the supporters of Nayak.

However, the MLA laid the foundation stone for the project and thereafter the sarpanch damaged the plaque. The incident triggered tension at the place.

Police rushed to the place and tried to placate the angry people protesting the vandalism in front of the legislator.
