Without proper road facilities in place, health workers and officials had to walk nine kilometers to provide treatment to some villagers suffering from malaria under Jharigam block in Nabarangpur district on Saturday.
As per reports, villagers from Sargipani, Maraghat and Nandanchua under the block are suffering from Malaria. Following an order from Jharigam Community Health Center Director Prakash Chandra Nayak, a health team comprising doctor Santosh Pradhan, SHO Biswajit Mohanty, Dipti Ranjan Sethi and woman health worker Janaki Takiri went to the village from the hospital with a vehicle to provide treatment to the malaria-affected villagers.
However, their vehicle could only come up to Phuljhari village. The team couldn’t move with their vehicle further due to the absence of a proper road facility. The health team was forced to walk up to nine kilometers to cover the three villages with much difficulty and provided the required treatment to the affected people there.
The health team examined the blood samples of around 129 people in the villages. The doctors provided them free medicines and spread awareness about malaria.
