After the Tirupati laddu row, ghee used in cooking prasad in temples in Odisha is in focus. In the latest, samples of ghee used in Sarala temple in Jagatsinghpur were collected for test on Friday.

As per sources, the head priest of Sarala temple on Thursday alleged that substandard ghee was being used in the temple.

On Friday, the district administration swung into action and district food inspector Samita Das visited the temple and collected samples from the store room and kitchen for test.

“This morning, we got a complaint through media reports that substandard ghee is being used in Sarala temple. So we visited the temple, collected samples of unused ghee from a 15-litre tin and cooked ghee from the kitchen,” informed Das.
