In a major step towards enhancing the law enforcement infrastructure, the Sambalpur Police have been equipped with 15 new, technologically advanced PCR (Police Control Room) vehicles. These new additions, all SUVs, are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening crime control, patrolling, and emergency response in the district.

The vehicles were officially flagged off during a grand ceremony held near Samaleswari Temple on Sunday. It is hoped that the new high-tech PCR vehicles will significantly improve the efficiency and speed of police response, especially in urban and sensitive areas.

Each of the newly inducted PCR vehicles is fitted with cutting-edge security equipment. These include GPS tracking systems for real-time location monitoring, VHF communication systems for seamless coordination, and 360-degree PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras to aid in surveillance and evidence collection. The vehicles are also designed to be highly mobile and capable of reaching crime scenes swiftly, thereby reducing response times.

Importantly, the public can now dial the emergency number 112 to seek immediate police help, which will be dispatched through these newly deployed PCR units. This marks a significant advancement in bridging the gap between citizens and law enforcement, allowing for faster intervention during emergencies such as thefts, accidents, or medical crises.

Sambalpur SP, Mukesh Bhamu said, “We want to minimize the emergency response time. The entire city has been divided into various sectors and the new PCR vehicles will be deployed as per requirement. The vehicles can record visuals from 100 meter range. 11 vehicles will be used for Sambalpur town, rest will be sent to other areas in the district.”

With the induction of these 15 PCR vehicles, the Sambalpur Police are better equipped than ever to handle the growing challenges of urban policing, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety and security of the residents.
