Rs 500 for darshan at Puri Srimandir? Fake website misleads Lord Jagannath devotees
Amid reports of several fake websites trying to dupe devotees visiting Puri Srimandir, a new controversy has surfaced after a portal named ‘India Thrills’ published misleading information about paid darshan at the Jagannath Temple.
The website falsely claimed that devotees are required to pay different amounts for darshan depending on the time and category. A so-called rate chart listed fees of Rs 50, Rs 100, and even Rs 500, creating the impression that entry to the temple and darshan of the deities is restricted by payment.
To make the claim appear authentic, the site also carried details about the temple’s history, rituals, and darshan timings. However, temple authorities have strongly refuted the claims, clarifying that darshan at the Srimandir is completely free for all devotees, and there is no provision of a paid entry system.
The misleading information has left devotees shocked and angered, with many alleging that the website is attempting to exploit the faith and sentiments of millions of Jagannath followers. Officials have warned devotees to remain cautious and have indicated that steps may be taken against those responsible for spreading such false and deceptive content online.
Earlier on Saturday, the Puri police busted a fake website- Pujapariseva.com, which was allegedly duping devotees on the pretext of online pujas and collecting money under false pretenses.
