Fake website offering Jagannath Puja busted; Puri police cautions devotees

Cyber fraudsters have once again tried to dupe devotees in the name of Lord Jagannath’s rituals at Puri Srimandir. A fake website — Pujapariseva.com — has allegedly been found promoting online pujas and collecting money under false pretenses.

Reports reveal that the site advertised four types of rituals, including Abhishek Puja, Tulsi Daan Puja, General Darshan, and a special puja for Lord Jagannath and His Siblings, listing different rates for each. It even claimed to arrange offerings like ‘sukhuli bhog’ on behalf of devotees.

The fraudulent site urged devotees to book these services online, misleading them with claims of direct puja and darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Taking serious note of the matter, Puri SP Prateek Singh said the cyber team has been alerted and necessary steps will be taken to block and investigate the website. He appealed to devotees not to fall prey to such fraudulent claims and to verify any service through official temple administration channels only.

Police further warned that strict action would be initiated against those attempting to exploit religious sentiments for financial gain.

“I urge everyone not to fall into the trap of fake websites luring devotees with offers of darshan at Srimandir. Devotees must use only authorised websites and exercise extra caution while booking hotels online,” Puri SP said.
