In a recent disclosure in the Odisha Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi provided alarming statistics on crime registered in January this year. Several cases related to murder, dacoity, theft, and misconduct have been reported across the state, highlighting a significant law and order challenge.
According to the data presented, a total of 111 murder cases, 20 dacoity cases, and 1,509 theft cases were registered. Additionally, 194 cybercrime cases and 655 cases of misconduct were also recorded.
Comparative figures from 2024 show an even more concerning trend, with 1,258 murder cases, 356 dacoity cases, and a staggering 17,805 theft cases registered last year.
