The sleuths of the Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday arrested the Revenue Inspector (RI) and a peon of Lamtaput RI office under Macchkund tehsil in Koraput district for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for land demarcation. 

The arrested RI has been identified as Bijay Kumar Bagh and the peon of his office, Rohit Kumar Padhy. 

According to sources, the RI and the peon had demanded Rs 10,000 from a person for the demarcation of his land. The said person sought the help of the Vigilance Department. Accordingly, a trap was laid out.

Both Bagh and Padhy were apprehended red-handed while accepting the bribe money. The anti-corruption wing officials also recovered the bribed money from the peon and seized it. 

Following the trap, simultaneous raids were carried out at Machhkund tehsil office, the Lamtaput RI office, and the RI’s residence at Lamtaput from the DA angle. 

In this connection, a Vigilance case has been registered against both the accused persons.
