A Revenue Inspector (RI) of Padampur Tehsil in Bargarh district was caught by the vigilance department while accepting a bribe of Rs 3300.

The accused RI has been identified as Damodar Suna.

As per reports, Suna demanded Rs 300 each as bribe to prepare land maps from 11 persons. A middleman named Samadeb Banchhor, gave the total bribe of Rs 3300 to Suna for the job.

A complaint was filed with the vigilance following which the sleuths caught Suna red-handed while accepting the money from Banchhor.

Both the accused were arrested and taken to Bargarh for questioning.

In another related incident, a clerical staff of TPCODL (Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited) was arrested by vigilance in Bhubaneswar on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for a new electricity connection.

Following the arrest, the accused, Tarun Ranjan Nayak was suspended by the TPCODL.

As per reports, Nayak was apprehended by the vigilance team while accepting the bribe through digital means. It was reportedly a first-of-its-kind incident in Odisha where the vigilance caught somebody taking bribe online.
