A police personnel was found dead at a hotel room in Bolangir under mysterious circumstances on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Shankarbhanu Behera. He was working as a constable in Sonepur Reserve Police.
As per reports, Behera had gone from Sonepur to Bolangir in his car on May 11. However, he didn’t return home. Later, he was found dead with his hands and legs tied inside a hotel room near Bolangir Railway Station.

Police are suspecting that Behera was killed by someone inside the hotel room.

Though the exact motive behind the suspected murder is yet to be ascertained, speculation is rife that Behera might have been killed over ganja trade.
Meanwhile, as per some local residents, the accused fled away with the deceased’s car after murdering him. Subsequently, they left the car and ran away after facing a severe accident near Khujenpali.
