Fraud accused Hansita Abhilipsa being taken on remand
Real-life ‘Babli’ Hanshita Abhilipsa, who has been accused of cheating builders, businessmen and mine owners by introducing herself as the daughter of PM Modi’s Principal Secretary PK Mishra, broke down into tears as she was taken on remand, claiming she has been targeted.
An emotional Hanshita stated that she was deliberately being targeted. In her statement, she said, "I will reveal all the truths and expose the lies," asserting that a deliberate attempt is being made to tarnish her reputation.
While speaking to the press, Hanshita maintained her innocence, stating, "We have done nothing wrong. We don't even know the person who has filed the case against us. The truth will come to light once investigations proceed."
Hanshita, along with her aide Anil Mohanty, faces allegations of involvement in fraudulent activities. The two were taken into police remand today.
The Special Crime Unit had initially requested the court for a three-day remand to investigate the allegations further. However, the court granted a one-day remand, allowing a limited timeframe for the police to interrogate the accused.
The modus operandi of Hansita and Anil was to digitally manipulate photographs with high-ranking officials and approach their victims with false promises of getting their tender passed. They used to introduce them to their targets as the daughter and son-in-law of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
By portraying false associations with influential figures, Hansita purportedly convinced victims, primarily targeting rich businessmen, those in the mining and construction sectors. She also posed as the wife of several high-profile businessmen, bureaucrats, and politicians as per the need of her plan to defraud her victims.
Meanwhile, The Income Tax (IT) Department conducted extensive raids on the properties of Hansita and Anil Mohanty, as part of an ongoing investigation. Raids are underway in several locations including Bhubaneswar, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Jharkhand, and Delhi.
