Ravenshaw University withdraws order barring women on campus after 5:30 pm
Ravenshaw University in Cuttack has withdrawn an office order that barred all female faculty, staff, and students from remaining on campus after 5:30 PM.
The order, issued on July 17, cited safety concerns and stated that the restriction would remain in effect until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) was issued to regulate work hours and security guidelines.
The official notice, signed by the Registrar on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, read “No female faculty, staff, and students are permitted to remain in the workplace or on campus after 5.30 pm. This decision will remain in place until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) is issued, which will outline the necessary guidelines and protocols for work hours and safety measures.”
However, the university rescinded the order on July 18.
Sources within the institution confirmed that the administration is now working on a comprehensive safety guideline applicable to all students and staff, irrespective of gender.
